The story of how I was introduced to coiling is an emotional one for me. You can read it on the Background page. For the most part, I am a self-taught artist, having learned almost entirely through reading, experimenting, and lots of trial and error.
My journey into coiling started very slowly in 2005 and did not gain momentum until I retired in 2010. Since then, I have participated in juried shows, craft fairs, and have had my work on display and for sale at art galleries and centers.I have been teaching beginner classes in the basics of coiling since 2010 at the Cultural Arts Center in Glen Allen, VA.
I have always loved to make things with my hands. I have tried my hand at numerous things over the years: sewing, needlepoint, crochet, knitting, wood carving and even some small carpentry projects. Currently, in addition to coiling, I also enjoy doing some wood burning and creating vessels with wire.
