1 Pond + 4 Acres = 1 Year of Beautiful Oil Paintings by Dan Bartges
"Color Harmony is a set of rules that many artists use to create visually pleasing artwork. But what many people, artist or not, do not realize is that these same rules transcend art and can be applied to many other aspects of daily living. I will be giving a 45 minute presentation in which I take you on an eye-opening exploration of the rules of Color Harmony. You will also see the rules used in everyday examples like Flower Arrangements, Home Decor, and the Clothes You Wear Every Day. This presentation has also been given at such locations as he Smithsonian's American Art Museum in D. C., and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond."
I can't explain my lifelong urge to draw and paint, but I do know exactly when it began. When I was 4, my dad sat me down at the kitchen table, brought out a pencil and notepad and said, "Let me show you something." With that, he began drawing a very simple sketch of railroad tracks, a distant train and mountains in the background. I watched in amazement, completely mesmerized. Seeing that scene materialize was the closest thing to magic I'd ever witnessed, and all these years later, drawing and painting still cast their spell.
