Pace-Berkeley's solo show, Subtle, includes large scale emotive portraits and abstracts.
Statement from the artist:
I paint big, bold, layered works.
I paint with my entire body and soul..
I paint emotions.
I respond to a persistent and necessary drive to get these emotions off my shoulders...
The works take the form of faces..
Or bodies..or nonobjectives...
Faces I know I saw somewhere, once, sometime...
But, who they are is not as important as being able to convince my viewer to connect with the feelings being presented...
It is all about communication.
My aim is to create an almost "non verbal vocabulary' using color and shape, texture and tone. And size..
With or without conscious or deliberate thought or intent, often I seem to have the ability to feel what others are feeling. It is a stolen thing.
